Perinatal Behavioral Health Services
The women’s behavioral health experts at University Hospitals are dedicated to prioritizing pregnant and postpartum parents and their mental well-being through our perinatal intensive outpatient program.
This behavioral health program offers expert treatment for depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns in pregnancy and the postpartum period through a trauma-informed, non-judgmental approach. We provide a rapid connection to compassionate, caring mental health providers and intensive short-term treatment to help new parents feel better faster.
Our program offers:
- An interdisciplinary team of social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists
- Individual and group therapy sessions
- Treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
- Medication management from a reproductive psychiatrist if needed
Group and Individual Sessions
Our group and individual sessions are conducted virtually, and babies and children are welcome to join their parents during the sessions.
Our group sessions are for parents 18 years old and over, beginning at 12 weeks pregnant and up to one year postpartum. We meet virtually Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Patients enrolled in our program also attend weekly individual therapy sessions.
Group and individual sessions meet for a total of six weeks, with a weekly after-care group provided upon program completion.
Our program is LGBTQ+ inclusive and welcomes all birth parents to join.
