Enhanced Recovery and Cesarean Birth
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a special approach to care that optimizes your health before, during and after surgery. Used for all types of surgeries, this method is proven to help patients recover faster. When you undergo cesarean delivery, all members of your University Hospitals care team, including your obstetrician/gynecologist, anesthesiologist, certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners and clinical nurses work closely together to ensure your recovery goes as smoothly as possible.
Your enhanced recovery care at UH will include assistance related to the time immediately leading up to your surgery, time spent in the operating room, recovery care (first few hours after surgery), postpartum care (the period between your recovery care and your discharge from the hospital) and preparation for going home. Throughout your whole experience, your care team will guide and partner with you to help improve recovery and give you tools to take an active role in your care.
