Seneca Block, Ph.D(c), MT-BC, LPMT

Seneca Block, PhD(c), MT-BC, LPMT, is a board-certified music therapist and the Lauren Rich Fine Endowed Director of Expressive Therapies with University Hospitals Connor Whole Health. Having worked as both a music therapist and program developer at several large scale healthcare systems, pain and stress management through music therapy are among his clinical goals.

He is currently working on the implementation of music and art therapy into standard healthcare models including both general medical and psychiatric settings, utilizing his expertise in program development, pain management and community mental health.

Seneca earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He is currently completing a doctorate in philosophy within the expressive therapy program at Lesley University, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His dissertation is focused on music, art and dance and movement therapeutic integration strategies, academic program design and arts-based research.

With over thirty years of experience in musical performance and training, Seneca also has more than a decade of medical music therapy practice and training in adult and behavioral health settings, including Mclean Psychiatric Hospital of Harvard Medical School, Tufts Medical Center and University Hospitals of Cleveland. A prolific author, presenter and performer, he has been the recipient of several grants and business proposals with strong financial stewardship of funds and systemic program directorship.
