Joseph Bellissimo DC
Joseph Bellissimo, DC, is a chiropractic physician with University Hospitals Connor Whole Health. Dr. Bellissimo joins Connor after more than 11 years of experience in private practice in Connecticut and Ohio. A native New Yorker, Dr. Bellissimo earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from the State University of New York at Albany and worked in off-Broadway theater in New York City for more than ten years. With more life experience and some persistent neck and low back pain, he felt a calling toward a more hands-on mode of medicine: chiropractic care. In 2011, he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Bridgeport’s College of Chiropractic, graduating as valedictorian of his class. He interned at the Veterans Administration hospitals in Newington and New Haven, Connecticut, where he brought his evolving expertise to a hospital environment, treating veterans and helping them achieve their health goals. Dr. Bellissimo has an affinity for patients in the arts as he appreciates the unique stresses that dance, theater and music can place on the human body. He believes that chiropractic care plays a collaborative role in the overall health and well-being of his patients.
Dr. Bellissimo uses diversified techniques, integrative dry needling, soft tissue mobilization, stretching and treatment of specific trigger points in his practice, believing that all of these modalities work to support the whole health of the individual. In assessing the activities and demands of everyone’s individual lifestyles, he employs evidence-based research to tailor each patient’s treatment to their circumstances.
