Why Choose UH Seidman Cancer Center
As one of the best cancer hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report for over 20 years, University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders.
At UH Seidman Cancer Center, we combine the expertise of some of the country’s leading cancer experts with state-of-the-art technology and leading-edge treatments to provide patients with a full continuum of care – from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
Care in the Community

At UH Seidman we believe that patients should not have to travel long distances to receive the very best treatment our center has to offer. So, we provide our nationally ranked care at 16 community-based locations in Northeast Ohio – bringing world-class care to you, close to home.
Compassionate Care

We recognize that when a patient and their family are faced with a new cancer diagnosis, their world is turned upside down. So it is critical that we offer them not only innovative therapies for better outcomes, but also a personal connection that allows them to approach each day with hope.
Genomic Testing and Precision Medicine

With genomic testing, we are able to take pictures of the unique genetic profile of a tumor to help us understand more about what is driving its growth. We can then use precision medicine to apply individualized therapies that can target the tumor and turn off the genes that are causing the cancer.
Proton Therapy

We are the first hospital in Ohio to offer proton therapy, an advanced form of radiation therapy. Proton therapy allows for the precise delivery of radiation therapy to kill cancer cells while reducing the damaging effects of radiation on healthy tissue. There are many types of cancer that can benefit from targeted proton therapy, including cancers of the brain, lungs and liver.
Second Opinions

A second opinion from a Comprehensive Cancer Center can be an important step in any cancer diagnosis. By getting a second opinion at UH Seidman Cancer Center, you can be assured you will get the most accurate diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan.
Supportive Care

At UH Seidman Cancer Center, we believe that treating cancer means treating the whole patient and meeting all of their needs – physical, psychological social and spiritual. Our supportive integrative oncology program focuses on other aspects beyond the specific cancer treatments. This includes nutrition support, social work, financial counseling, spiritual counseling, and integrative therapies such as acupuncture, art therapy and music therapy.
Team Approach to Care

Patients at UH Seidman Cancer Center have an entire team that rallies around them, working tirelessly to help them fight cancer. This team includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and surgical oncologists, along with pathologists, geneticists, social workers and more. The team members meet weekly to review every single patient’s case and work together to develop individualized treatment plans. Every member of the team brings a unique skill set and depth of knowledge to the table, which allows us to look at a case from every angle and provide patients with the very best care.
Leading the Way in Innovation

University Hospitals has been a leader in cancer innovations for decades, going back nearly 100 years to when Claude Beck, MD, was the first to successfully remove a heart tumor in 1933. Since then, UH has continued to pioneer technology and therapies that have forever changed the way we approach cancer treatment.
