Debra Leizman, MD, FACP
Debra Leizman, MD, FACP is Director of Medical Student Education at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Leizman’s focus areas are medical student education and clinical practice. In addition to her responsibilities for medical student clinical electives at University Hospitals, Dr. Leizman is the Director of the Internal Medicine Core Clerkship for University Hospitals, and serves as Clinical Director of the CWRU Medical Science Training Program (MSTP), organizing and directing MD-PhD clinical training while MSTP students complete their research work. Dr. Leizman has served as Faculty Advisor for the CWRU School of Medicine Internal Medicine Medical Student Interest Group for more than 20 years. She also serves on the Committee on Medical Education at the CWRU School of Medicine.
Dr. Leizman’s research interests include medical student and resident education, patient safety and quality issues. Dr. Leizman is a University Hospitals Distinguished Physician. She maintains a primary care Internal Medicine practice and precepts residents in the University Hospitals Internal Medicine Ambulatory Clinic. Dr. Leizman has two daughters in medical school and one daughter training to become a clinical nurse practitioner.
