Cleveland VA Eye Clinic
Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center Eye Clinic
University Hospitals Eye Institute residents also participate at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, which is located just across the Case Western Reserve University Campus from University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Residents are now enjoying the benefits of training at the new state-of-the-art Eye Clinic at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. The clinic boasts more than 8,000 square feet of space devoted to patient care and research and is equipped with latest in diagnostic technologies including IOL Master, Pentacam, Zeiss and Heidelberg OCT machines, funds photography, and fluorescein angiography. The clinic also has a minor procedure room for office based surgery, along with a dedicated laser room that features anterior and posterior segment lasers. The VA is also home to the EyeSi surgical simulator where residents have dedicated time to practice surgical skills. The recently opened Ambulatory Surgery Center is a great addition to the VA and residency program. This allows for even more surgeries to be performed by the residents in an outpatient setting.
In July 2014, the Cleveland VA opened an impressive 10,000 square foot outpatient ambulatory surgery center to accommodate the growing demand for ophthalmologic surgeries.
The facilities have allowed for the expansion to three VA resident teams, which increases the number of patients seen every day, in addition to surgical volume for residents.
