Chairman's Letter
Stephanie Teal, MD, MPH
Professor of Reproductive Biology and Department Chair
Welcome to University Hospitals MacDonald Women's Hospital and Case Western Reserve University, where we are proud to continue our over 150 year tradition of caring for women across the lifespan. Whether our patients are adolescents or elders, we are committed to bringing a person-centered, justice-focused approach to care. Our dedication to continuous improvement in healthcare quality takes various shapes, including investments in science and discovery and expansive educational programs.
Highlights of our educational programs are a 16-county network of hospitals feeding the most complex obstetrical and gynecological cases to MacDonald; strong integration of academic and community-based clinicians as teachers on labor and delivery; and global health opportunities through our sister program in Guyana. Our resident clinics based at the UH Rainbow Ahuja Center for Women & Children allow us to learn and serve in the heart of our community. We have robust divisions of General OB/GYN, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, and Gynecologic Oncology, each with ACGME-accredited Fellowship programs. We also have strong programs in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Hospitalist Obstetrics. Unique aspects of our department include our Division of Behavioral Medicine, whose psychologists focus on women’s mental health, especially as related to chronic pain, sexual dysfunction, birth trauma, and menopause, and our Division of Midwifery, who are fantastic colleagues and teachers. I hope you enjoy browsing our website and learning more about our “MacHouse Family!”
