Regional Anesthesia & Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship
The ACGME accredited Regional Anesthesiology & Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is a one year training program for anesthesiologists who desire additional training in regional anesthesiology and acute pain management.
One position is available per academic year.
The program is designed to give fellows an intensive and comprehensive experience providing regional anesthesia and managing an acute pain service in a variety of practice settings, ranging from large tertiary care medical centers to regional hospitals to outpatient surgery centers.
Along with providing clinical care to patients, fellows teach medical students and anesthesiology residents, develop a quality improvement project, and have the option to attend leadership courses at Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, culminating in a certificate in medical leadership.
By completion of the program, fellows are expected to have developed the competencies listed in the six areas below when providing pediatric anesthesia care:
- Patient care
- Medical knowledge
- Practice-based learning and improvement
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Professionalism
- Systems-based practice
In addition to a yearly stipend, fellows are allotted four weeks of vacation time, one week for academic meetings and two reading days per month.
