Chair, Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine
University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center offers a comprehensive educational and training experience to physicians interested in anesthesiology and its subspecialties. Our faculty are committed to an environment providing the highest quality care, where teaching and learning exist in a true community of academics, while giving our trainees the tools to become more than just a board-certified anesthesiologist: we produce leaders in our specialty.
Our physician faculty are trained and board-certified across the spectrum of anesthesiology specialties, including pain management, pediatric anesthesiology, critical care medicine and cardiac anesthesiology. The faculty take an active and hands-on approach to formal didactics, which include weekly half-day lecture series focusing on the basic and advanced American Board of Anesthesiology curriculum; weekly continuing medical education Grand Rounds and Visiting Professor presentations; and monthly morbidity and mortality conferences and journal clubs. The department also has a dedicated simulation laboratory designed for hands-on training in a safe learning environment, giving trainees the opportunity to diagnose and treat conditions to which they may not otherwise receive exposure. Our educational program also provide experiences such as cadaver laboratory skills workshops and Leans Six Sigma training. Our tertiary care medical center is unique in Northeastern Ohio allowing us to comprehensively provide all training rotations in one location, including a Level 1 trauma center, the world-renowned UH Rainbow Babies and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital, Ohio’s only dedicated hospital to the specialized care needs of women.
As a cutting-edge program, our goal is to provide the highest quality training with top-notch expertise, both professionally and personally. Feel free to reach out and explore our educational programs; we look forward to hearing from you!
