Magnet Recognition
UH Cleveland Medical Center has been Magnet recognized since 2006. In February 2021, as part of the re-accreditation process, the American Nurses Credentialing Center evaluated the hospital's performance to ensure that it consistently meets Magnet standards. This process was both rigorous and thorough for all involved – from the bedside nurse clinicians to the department heads, executive team, and members of the board of directors. UH Cleveland Medical Center hosted four Magnet appraisers over a three-day virtual site visit where over 80 UH Cleveland Medical Center areas were assessed and viewed virtually. In addition, more than 600 nurses and employees participated in the interview/review process.
Achieving Magnet recognition is an impressive and important distinction for UH Cleveland Medical Center staff and the communities we serve. Throughout this annual nursing report, the Magnet Organization's principles are defined and demonstrate how nurses are advocates, educators, researchers, innovators, leaders, key members of inter-professional teams, and expert clinicians. We are incredibly proud to have achieved our 4th Magnet Designation in 2021, during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
