Vascular Access Program
University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute offers a program designed specifically to manage of urgent or acute hemodialysis access failure (i.e., thrombosed AVF/G, nonfunctioning dialysis catheter, failing AVF/G) in patients who require dialysis and have no other access options available.
Refer a Patient
To refer a patient to the Vascular Center, call 216-844-3800. For emergency transfers, call 216-844-1111.
Our Vascular Access Program offers same-day or 24-hour patient service, excluding weekends and observed holidays. Services include:
- Fistulograms
- Angioplasty/stenting to salvage patent but poorly functioning fistulas/grafts
- Thrombectomy (declot) of occluded fistulas and grafts
- Catheter placement, removal, exchange, and repair
Nephrologists, dialysis units, and access care coordinators trust our program to provide prompt and organized restoration of functional hemoaccess by trained specialty providers in an outpatient setting, avoiding inpatient admissions and emergency room visits.
