Pediatric Clinical Update | March 2024
Ahmed Zeid, MD, joined the division of Pediatric Nephrology at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s in January. Keep reading to get to know him a little better:
How old were you when you felt the call to become a doctor?
I come from a family of physicians. I knew I was going to be one ever since I was a kid.
What are your areas of clinical interest?
Acute kidney injury. Chronic kidney disease. Drug nephrotoxicity. Hypertension. Tubular disorders.
Who or what inspires you and why?
Mom was the biggest inspiration in my life. She was an internist herself and is the reason why I love medicine.
Dog or cat?
Dog. I had several when I was young. I will probably adopt one in the near future.
Coffee or tea?
Tea.
Cavs, Guardians or Browns?
I am more of a soccer fan. Still trying to understand football.
Favorite book (outside of medical journals)?
Spring with a Broken Corner, by Mario Benedetti.
People would be surprised to know that I …
…have never visited the Giza pyramids! I know it sounds strange since I am Egyptian and I grew up in the greater Cairo area. I just never had the time.
