About

Sarah Mowry, MD is a board-certified otolaryngologist and fellowship-trained neurotologist at University Hospitals. She is also an associate professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and the director of the UH otolaryngology residency program.

Dr. Mowry specializes in temporal bone disorders in children and adults and has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of ENT conditions, including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), cholesteatoma, facial nerve disorders, paragangliomas, Meniere’s disease and vestibular schwannomas. She also has advanced training in bone-anchored hearing solutions and cochlear implants.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, Dr. Mowry attended Tulane University School of Medicine where she received her medical doctorate. She went on to complete a residency in otolaryngology at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Mowry further advanced her training by completing a fellowship in neurotology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

Dr. Mowry first became interested in otology as a medical student when she was exposed to cochlear implant technology and the power to restore hearing to the hearing impaired. While she continues to be passionate about hearing (re)habilitation, her practice encompasses the breadth of academic neurotology. In addition, she maintains a busy clinical research program with a focus on cochlear implant outcomes and 3-D printing of the temporal bone.

In her free time, Dr. Mowry enjoys cooking and exploring the Cleveland MetroParks with her husband and two children.

I recently transferred to Dr Mobry's care when my former ENT moved out of state. Dr Mobry knew my history and was able to answer all my questions and take over my care

Very helpful. Dr. Mowry is the fifth ENT that I have been to in the last 2.5 years, and the only one to be able to provide effective care.

Only complaint is the facilities. It was very difficult to navigate with a wheelchair. No handicap door opening available (interior) and door were so narrow, could hardly navigate the wheelchair without assistance from other people in the waiting room.

Have had a reoccurring ear infection for the last 2 years. I have gone through 6 ENT/otologists. None have found a resolution. Dr. Mowry, I believe, came up with a reasonable diagnosis and is on track to get this resolved. Nothing but good things to say about her treatment regimen.

During my first appointment with UH, It is obvious that this health system offers world-class care. I was impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the front-office staff ***, Nurse ***, Audiologist ***, Dr. ***, And imaging team. Now for Dr. Mowry, she is a superstar. My first appointment with her exceeded my expectations. She was very warm and friendly and had an excellent bedside manner. She was also very thorough. I was thrilled that her team was able to schedule me for testing on the same day in the same building (Very important because I am out of State). Also, my current condition has caused my quality of life to diminish greatly. During the appointment, Dr. Mowry and her resident Dr. *** were very reassuring and included some fun and light hearted humor, that immediately put me at ease. In the first time in years, I have hope that I will see some improvement. I am very fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Mowry and her skilled team. Also, big shoutout to Dr. ***. She was exceedingly kind and patient during balance testing and made sure I was comfortable.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
