About

Trevor Teetor, MD is a board-certified general and colorectal surgeon at University Hospitals, with additional certifications in laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgery. He is also an assistant professor of colorectal surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Teetor ’s clinical interests include benign colorectal disorders, colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, rectal prolapse and surgical treatments for fecal incontinence.

Dr. Teetor attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio for his undergraduate education, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He went on to earn his medical doctorate at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, followed by a residency in general surgery at Wellspan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. His training continued at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio where he completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery.

In addition to his many research contributions to the field, Dr. Teetor is the author and co-author of multiple manuscripts, abstracts and publications related to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of colorectal and digestive diseases. He is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. Teetor is active in a variety of civic and charitable activities, the most recent of which was a two-week surgical mission trip to Apam, Ghana in 2018. In his free time he enjoys competitive rock climbing and reading.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
