About
Michael D. Staudt, MD, MSc, is a neurosurgeon at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is the Director of Epilepsy Surgery, and the Co-Director of Pain Surgery and Neuromodulation. His clinical practice and research interests primarily include the surgical treatment of pain, movement disorders and epilepsy, with particular expertise in adult and pediatric neuromodulation. He also specializes in neurosurgical oncology.
He graduated with distinction in medical sciences from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, before pursuing a master’s degree in neurobiology and a medical degree. He then continued his neurosurgical training at London Health Sciences Centre, during which time he completed an enfolded fellowship in Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, followed by a post-graduate fellowship at Albany Medical Center.
After the completion of his fellowship, Dr. Staudt joined the neurosurgical faculty at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (formerly Beaumont Health) in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he oversaw the development of the comprehensive functional and epilepsy neurosurgery program, and the largest neuromodulation program in the state of Michigan. He was then recruited to UH Cleveland Medical Center in 2024.
Dr. Staudt serves on the Board of Directors for the North American Neuromodulation Society and the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Pain. He also serves on the AANS/CNS Joint Guidelines Review Committee, and is the Pain Section Guideline Chair. He has published more than 75 scientific articles and book chapters in the fields of neuromodulation and neurosurgery, and is a reviewer for leading journals in neurosurgery.
