Patient Experience Reviews
Good listener and making patient autonomous in their health care decision-making.
Maria Shaker is a fantastic doctor - she has made my entire pregnancy stress free. I greatly appreciate the care I've received and would recommend her to everyone.
Dr. Shaker is amazing! She knows how to make you feel comfortable during the exam and always listen and address any concerns. She is definitely a valuable asset to the UH team!
I love Dr. Shaker. She's great and never makes me feel rushed. I understand that means she is giving the same excellent care to all her patients so is running behind. I'm okay with that. However, I have consistently been taken back to the exam room and been asked to change into the exam gown and then left to sit for 30-45 minutes. I would prefer to sit in the waiting room or remained clothed at least until closer to the time she was coming in to see me.
Dr. Shaker was fantastic. Once she got in the room she was very apologetic about running a little behind, which I really appreciated. Overall great experience and I thought my nurses were great too!
Dr Shaker is patient, caring, and helpful. She goes out of her way to advocate for patients and very attentive.
Good experience
Dr. Shaker listens to my questions/concerns and assess multiple aspects of my health. *** I like Dr. Shaker and she's very passionate about women's health. I wish there was more conversation around identifying cause of symptoms that I have family history of and prevention measures. I do recommend her care to friends and family.
Industry Relationships
University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.
UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.

As of December 31, 2016, Maria Shaker did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
