About
Prashant V. Rajan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals and an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His areas of expertise include cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine surgery.
Dr. Rajan attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in zoology and a bachelor of arts in biochemistry. He went on to earn his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, graduating with honors. After completing a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Rajan further advanced his training at Emory University Spine Center in Atlanta, Georgia where he completed a fellowship in spine surgery.
Having trained under both orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons, Dr. Rajan is skilled in both minimally invasive and traditional spine surgery techniques to treat spinal problems. Each surgical plan is tailored specifically to the patient’s condition and clinical symptoms and is designed to maximize effectiveness and recovery. Dr. Rajan performs spine surgery using the latest surgical techniques when possible, including motion preservation and microsurgery.
Dr. Rajan is actively involved in research related to the advancement of spinal surgery. He has published over 30 scientific papers and book chapters on spine and orthopedic surgery and has received numerous grants and research awards. He is an active member of the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Lumbar Spine Research Society, the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
A Cleveland native, Dr. Rajan enjoys spending time with his wife and family and traveling in his free time.
