About

R. Justin Mistovich, MD, MBA, is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, Division Director of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center and Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His clinical and research interests include arthroscopy and the care of the young athlete, pediatric spinal deformity, and the optimal management of pediatric fractures. Dr. Mistovich is actively involved in teaching medical students, orthopaedic residents, and fellows. Dr. Mistovich currently serves as Director at Large for the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society, and is the Fellowship Program Director for the Rainbow Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Clinical Fellowship.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Mistovich graduated cum laude from Duquesne University Honors College with his bachelor’s, earned his medical degree at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine, and also received an MBA through Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. Dr. Mistovich completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, consistently ranked as the nation’s best. He additionally was one of three pediatric orthopedic surgeons in North America under age 45 selected for the 2019 Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America – Asia Pacific Paediatric Orthopaedic Society Traveling Fellowship, allowing additional advanced training from world experts in pediatric orthopedics.

Dr. Mistovich is very active in pediatric orthopedic research, authoring over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He has presented his work at numerous local, national, and international meetings and conferences. He additionally serves as a reviewer for numerous nationally-recognized journals, including Spine, American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics and Pediatrics.

Dr. Mistovich is involved in several professional societies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has served on committees for the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the Scoliosis Research Society, and The Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society, where he chaired the Tibial Spine Research Group prior to his current Director position. In addition, he has earned multiple honors and awards, including being named as a Top Doctor in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery by Cleveland Magazine .
