Joshua Miller, DO, FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist with UH Select, a membership-based concierge primary care practice that requires an annual fee. His special clinical interests include the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and obesity.

Prior to joining University Hospitals, Dr. Miller was on staff at the Cleveland Clinic (CCF) where he practiced for 26 years. During his tenure at CCF, Dr. Miller served as Medical Director of several family health centers, interim president of South Pointe Hospital and Chief Medical Officer of Hillcrest Hospital. In 2017, he was promoted to Vice President of CCF Regional Hospitals & Family Health Centers.

In this role, Dr. Miller was responsible for the daily operations of more than 50 ambulatory centers with 4,000 caregivers averaging 2.5 million visits per year. In addition to driving growth in the region, he was instrumental in the development of innovative programs such as the concierge model for patient check-in – an initiative that led to successful patient experience outcomes. Dr. Miller also developed many innovative practices such as daily huddles for operations and helped develop the new patient-centered exam room. In addition, his own medical practice consistently scored in the 99th percentile for patient experience scores and communication.

Dr. Miller obtained his undergraduate training at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He went on to earn his medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Highly active in the community, Dr. Miller currently serves on the boards of Medwish and Jewish Family Service Association, and is on the Ohio University School of Medicine advisory board.

Dr. Miller and his wife Jill Miller, MD, also a provider with UH Select, have three adult children and reside in Beachwood.

Industry Relationships

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.

UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
