Patient Experience Reviews
Fine, engaging, compassionate, calm, and professional physician!
The doctor went over the x-ray of my hands and told me what could or not be done. I was hoping for surgery (thumb joint replacement, but was told that it was best to try occupational therapy first to see how that helped. He told me that his patient's are usually quite happy with results. I have agreed to try the occupational therapy, as I have had lots of physical therapy for my back in the past and almost always had a good experience. I have been receiving text messages from UH to schedule my appointment for occupational therapy, but I have not done that yet because my husband has just recently required medical care and I do not want to fill up my callendar with appointments for myself until he is feeling better.
My experience with UH was excellent! ***
Wonderful experience

Dr Macknin is an excellent doctor. Explains things and spent adequate time with me
The doctor was able to show me before and after x-rays, and explain to me what my expected prognosis would be. I appreciated the time he gave me.
He did a great job repairing my ear lobe.

Awesome
This was a very good visit this time. The doctor sat down and we discussed things and i actually had time to ask a lot of questions and get some answers. I didn't feel like I was being rushed, nor the doctor being rushed.

Industry Relationships
University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.
UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
