About

Manish K. Kasliwal, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland, as well as Director of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at University Hospitals in Cleveland.

Dr. Kasliwal is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Dr. Kasliwal received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He also completed his neurosurgery residency at AIIMS. He subsequently finished another neurosurgery residency and a spine surgery fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, focusing on minimally invasive and complex spine surgery. He went to complete another year of combined neurosurgery and orthopedic complex spine surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., furthering his expertise in the surgical treatment of complex spinal deformities, revision spine surgery and spinal reconstruction.

Dr. Kasliwal specializes in performing complex cervical spine and thoracolumbar spinal surgery, surgery for spinal deformity, use of computer-assisted navigation techniques in spinal surgery, spinal arthroplasty, motion preservation surgeries, spinal reconstruction, surgery for spinal tumors, and minimally invasive spine surgery. His expertise and special interest includes treatment of patients with adult spinal deformities (scoliosis) via both conventional open and novel minimally invasive techniques and application of minimally invasive techniques in the management of routine degenerative spinal disorders. His clinical practice is dedicated to the surgical management of patients with spinal disorders and he strives to provide the most advanced and least invasive treatment for his patients.

Dr. Kasliwal is a prolific researcher with more than 150 peer reviewed publications and close to 50 book chapters and abstracts in the field of spine surgery. He has given a number of presentations in various national and international academic meetings and is an invited faculty to various spine teaching courses across the country. He is a member of various national and international scientific organizations such as Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and North American Spine Society (NASS). He serves on the editorial board and as a reviewer for a number of peer reviewed spine journals and publications and also serve on various neurosurgery and spine committees.

His research interest includes studying clinical outcomes and complications following spinal surgeries and development of newer less invasive techniques and application of computer-assisted navigation techniques in the surgically management of spinal pathologies.
