About
Katharine Hollnagel, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s with special expertise in hip preservation.
Dr. Hollnagel earned her BA in molecular biology from Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., and attended medical school at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Va. She completed her residency training in orthopedic surgery at University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and later completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery and scoliosis at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, followed by a fellowship in child and young adult hip preservation at Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Hollnagel is active in research and has authored peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters covering a wide range of pediatric orthopedics topics. She has presented her research at regional and national meetings and conferences. Dr. Hollnagel is a member of professional societies that include the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
