About
Seth Alan Hoffer, MD, is the director of the Traumatic Brain Injury Center and co-director of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit Program at University Hospitals, and is an associate professor of neurosurgery and neurology at Case Western Reserve University. He received his B.A. with high honors in neuroscience with a minor in English literature from Oberlin College and his medical degree from the University of Rochester. He completed a neurosurgery residency and a fellowship in neurocritical care at University Hospitals, where he has stayed on as a staff physician. In addition to being a UH Distinguished Physician, he is the program director of the Neurosurgical Neurocritical Care (CAST) Fellowship.
Dr. Hoffer sits on a number of national committees, including the executive committee for the AANS/CNS Joint Section for Neurotrauma and Critical Care and the CAST Neurocritical Care Fellowship Accreditation Committee. He has published a number of articles on the management of hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury and decision-making in the intensive care unit.
Dr. Hoffer takes an active role in teaching residents and medical students in the operating room, the intensive care unit, and ward. He has won teaching awards from both the neurosurgery and neurology residents.
In his spare time, Dr. Hoffer enjoys cooking, listening to music, and growing hot peppers.

We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
