About
Saikrishna C. Gourishetti, MD, is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist at University Hospitals. He is also an assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Gourishetti completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, where he graduated cum laude with a B.S. in physiology and neurobiology. He also became a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society and received the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Fellowship. He earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he served as class president and received the William Gray, MD, Award for Outstanding Student in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He completed his residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at University of Maryland Medical Center. He went on to complete a world-renowned fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins University.
Throughout his training, Dr. Gourishetti authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and traveled extensively to present his research at national and international meetings. He was awarded the prestigious Charles Ferguson Clinical Research Award by the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology. For his extensive research endeavors, he also received the Duane A. Sewell, MD, Resident Research Award.
Dr. Gourishetti’s current research interests include the role of AI and machine learning in facial plastic surgery, particularly in areas of facial paralysis, rhinoplasty and the aging face. He is also interested in studying novel approaches to improve healthcare delivery using AI technology. He is passionate about global health and global surgery, with an interest in improving access to facial plastic surgery worldwide, including specialized care in facial paralysis, head and neck cancer reconstruction, and aging face surgery.
At University Hospitals, Dr. Gourishetti provides care for patients across all domains of facial plastic surgery, including complex facial reanimation procedures to treat facial paralysis; functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty; aesthetic surgery for facial aging including facelifts, blepharoplasty, Botox, fillers and laser therapy; Mohs reconstruction following skin cancer removal; head and neck microvascular reconstruction; facial trauma surgery; congenital cleft lip and palate surgery; and craniofacial surgery.
Dr. Gourishetti has dedicated his training and career to surgical and non-surgical treatments of the face. He understands how important the face is to one’s sense of self and quality of life.
