About

C. Barton Gillombardo, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndromes, cardiogenic shock and complex cardiovascular conditions.

Dr. Gillombardo completed his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, after which he earned his medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. He then completed an internal medicine residency at the Cleveland Clinic, were he served as chief resident. During this time, he also worked as associate editor of the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine and was actively involved in several residency committees focused on curriculum development, patient outcomes and clinical protocols.

Following his residency, Dr. Gillombardo completed fellowships in both cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, where he was appointed chief interventional cardiology fellow. His training was marked by multiple awards for clinical and academic excellence, reflecting his dedication to both patient care and advancing cardiology research.

An active physician-researcher, Dr. Gillombardo’s work has been widely published in leading journals, including the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, JAMA Cardiology and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He has presented his research at numerous national and regional medical conferences.

As a member of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Gillombardo remains engaged in advancing cardiovascular care, contributing to improved outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure and structural heart disease.

We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
