About
Robert Chip Gilkeson, MD, is the Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Center and Director of the Imaging, Lung Health Program at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and a Professor of Radiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He has extensive experience in both clinical and research aspects of cardiothoracic imaging, with a specific focus on CT and MR imaging of the chest. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and review articles, and has received multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Gilkeson has collaborated with industry vendors to develop novel imaging techniques and technologies that have the potential to improve patient care and outcomes. His research interests also include the use of advanced imaging techniques for the early detection and diagnosis of pulmonary diseases.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
