About
Janette Marie Fleissner, MSN, APRN, FNP–C, is a certified family nurse practitioner with University Hospitals Ashtabula Primary Care, located in Ashtabula Ohio. Fleissner is a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County and is devoted to providing care to the people of communities where resources can be scarce. She has a special interest in managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, obesity and mental health disorders. Fleissner is certified as a family nurse practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Fleissner began her career as a registered nurse in 1992 after she graduated from Kent State University, Ashtabula with her associate degree in nursing. After devoting many years as a registered nurse, she began to pursue a degree in advanced practice and graduated in 2017 from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing science. She completed her master’s degree in nursing science from Ohio University in 2023.
Fleissner strives to assist patients to improve their health and wellness. She believes in the establishment of collaborative relationships with her patients and shared decision making. She is committed to being a strong advocate for her patients and helping them achieve their best quality of life, health and well-being.
Fleissner is a mother of two college-aged children who are the driving force of her life. When not caring for her patients, she enjoys attending events for her children, playing the piano and flute, gardening and floral arranging, spending time with family friends, and traveling.
Industry Relationships
University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.
UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
