About
Sarah Eapen, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Eapen’s expertise spans the surgical management of patients with aortic, coronary and valvular heart conditions. She has a special clinical interest in aortic surgery.
Dr. Eapen earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio. Her postdoctoral training began with a general surgery residency at Summa Health in Akron, Ohio, followed by a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She received several awards during her academic tenure in recognition of her clinical and surgical excellence.
Prior to joining University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute in 2024, Dr. Eapen served as a clinical associate in aortic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Eapen has co-authored several book chapters and multiple peer-reviewed publications on advanced cardiac surgery techniques. She is also an active member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized.
