About

Sean A. Cupp, MD, serves as the lead medical physician for the Cleveland Browns. Dr. Cupp is Co-Director of Sports Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Family Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Originally from rural western Oklahoma, Dr. Cupp earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma before receiving his family medicine training at the University of Alabama Birmingham-Huntsville Family Practice residency in north Alabama. He returned home for his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City and then joined a busy private orthopedic practice in Lawrence, Kansas.

Dr. Cupp has spent his entire career in athletic medicine. For the decade prior to arriving in Cleveland, he practiced medical sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedics in northeast Kansas while serving as the assistant head medical physician for the University of Kansas Jayhawks and the head team physician for Baker University Wildcats.

Dr. Cupp is a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the NFL Physicians Society. He continues to practice sports medicine with University Hospitals Orthopedics. His interests include musculoskeletal medicine, medical issues of the athlete, non-surgical joint preservation, sports ultrasound and ultrasound guided joint injections.

Dr. Cupp and his wife, Keri, have three children: Charlotte, Christian and Caleb.

Dr. Cupp has taken very good care of my medical needs, before I started seeing him as my Orthopedic doctor I was walking with a slight limp, that's improved greatly, picking up his Bussiness card one day as I was leaving the office of my previous Orthopedic physician was the best decision I've ever made.

All my life I was a steadfast Cleveland Clinic patient. As time progressed I lost faith in Cleveland clinic and had to seek out higher ground, my site to UH doctors was my answer. I was impressed with dr Cupp and his knowledge, which I hope to find in other physicians, as I complete my journey at UH. After allwho doesn't want the best for their health.

Dr Cupp is an excellent clinician. He is polite, pleasant, professional, listens well, asks appropriate question, orders appropriate tests meds and x-rays. He cares about his clients their conditions and quality of life issues. If I would to have to wait longer than 15 minutes I would not care.
