About

Raina Abdallah, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pulmonologist at University Hospitals. Her special clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of patients with interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary sarcoidosis.

Dr. Abdallah earned her medical degree from Assiut University Faculty of Medicine in Asyut, Egypt. Her post-doctoral training began with a residency in internal medicine and a research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She went on to further advance her training by completing a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

A prolific author and presenter, Dr. Abdallah has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, presentations, lectures and courses on pulmonary disease and critical care education, ventilation methods and other pulmonary procedures in addition to her extensive research work. She is also a member of CHEST Networks of the American College of Chest Physicians, a distinguished, nationally recognized professional medical organization.

At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
