Unmatched Access to Innovative & Novel Therapies in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology
Childhood cancers differ from adult cancers. UH Rainbow is internationally recognized for research in pediatric hematology and oncology therapies, which are improving survival rates among children. As part of an academic medical center, our patients have access to the latest medical advances and clinical trials. We are one of the first medical centers to offer revolutionary CAR T-cell therapy in clinical trials for young cancer patients.
We are home to Ohio’s first proton therapy center. It is the only proton therapy center in the world located on the same campus as a full-service, nationally ranked children’s hospital. University Hospitals offers every radiation therapy available to fight cancer, providing patients with many options for treatment and better outcomes.
Fertility Preservation
Young people diagnosed with cancer may have concerns about how cancer treatment will affect their own ability to have children. Our fertility preservation program offers counseling to male and female patients and their families. This program provides patients with a variety of options for preserving their fertility. Our experts help patients make an informed decision about safeguarding their fertility before undergoing cancer treatment.
Survivorship
Long after cancer treatment is over, cancer survivors may continue to face many challenges. These issues can be physical, mental and emotional. Implications for young people can be especially difficult as they navigate school, family, career and social issues. We provide care and services for survivors of childhood and adolescent cancer long after the cancer itself is gone. Our team works with patients and families to identify and address the needs of each individual so that they can live their best lives after cancer.
