Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center
Laura was under a great deal of stress in 2008.Not long after losing her husband to cancer, she began experiencing excruciating headaches that left her nauseous and unable to function in her daily life. A trip to the emergency room after a particularly bad episode pinpointed a high grade meningioma that required surgery.
As a Jehovah’s Witness, blood transfusions were out of the question for Laura. Her doctors at the Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center worked with her religious needs, performing two surgeries within months of each other to remove the large tumor.
She underwent Gamma Knife surgery in March that helped her on the road to recovery.
“I had faith I was going to be OK and get through this because of my doctor,” Laura said, adding that her friends are helping her one day at a time. “I just prayed about the whole thing and left it in his hands.”
