Aparna Bole:
My path to Cleveland has taken me all over the country: I grew up in Oregon, went to the opposite coast to go to college at Harvard University, worked in New York City for a few years as a management consultant, went to medical school at the University of Michigan, then moved to Cleveland at the beginning of residency.
My husband is a “green developer” in downtown Cleveland – we live in one of his renovated apartments in a very cool historic building. I love living downtown and being able to walk to restaurants, sporting events, and the theater district, and being able to take public transit to work every day. My favorite things to do in Cleveland include seeing the wonderful Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall and at Blossom in the summer, hiking in the Holden Arboretum, going to the Great Lakes Theatre Festival, and going to Cavs games.
I hope to help introduce many of you to our friendly, supportive, diverse, and academically rich residency program here at Rainbow!
Stephanie Chin:
I was born and raised in Chicago and since leaving, have unintentionally stayed true to my roots and moved to cities where big winter boots and remote car starters are valued. I began in Ithaca, NY where I studied psychology at Cornell University. My next stop was Buffalo, NY where I went to medical school and probably had my lifetime fill of buffalo wings. It was also in Buffalo where I got my English bulldog, Penny, who provides me with constant entertainment (mostly because of the way her jowls look). I moved to Cleveland to be a Rainbow resident, and have enjoyed my time here immensely. My favorite things to do in Cleveland include going to the lake with my dog, having lazy Sunday brunches in Tremont, bowling at the Corner Alley, going to Indians games and watching the Friday night after-game fireworks, playing ultimate Frisbee, and going to summer street fairs. I have made life-long friends here, and although I am moving to NYC to be a cardiology fellow next year, will be sure to return to Cleveland for visits. I am excited to show you all that Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Cleveland have to offer!
Brian Chow:
Though I was born in Canada, I grew up in Atlanta, and went to Vanderbilt for undergrad. I went to Case Western Reserve University for medical school. In my free time, I love to travel, run, and enjoy Cleveland’s restaurant scene. Things I love about Cleveland are the diversity of restaurants—from inexpensive, spicy Vietnamese pho to Iron Chef Michael Simon’s decadent meals—the Cleveland Museum of Art whose free collection spans hundreds of years, and the numerous running/biking trails that wind through Cleveland and its suburbs.
Lisa Schnettler:
I grew up in Edgewood, KY , just outside of Cincinnati and have since bounced around to all corners of Ohio. I went to Miami University (in Oxford, OH) for undergrad and the University of Cincinnati for medical school, where I met my husband. We couples matched to Cleveland (he is an OB resident at Aultman Hospital) and have loved our time here. Our favorite things about Cleveland are the Metroparks and the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath (for hiking, running and biking). I also love the Botanical Gardens and the Great Lakes Science Center (yes, it’s for adults too!) .
We are new parents, and look forward to sharing all that Cleveland has to offer with our son, Liam, in our last year here. Though, I will miss Cleveland and especially Rainbow, we will likely be moving at the end of this year as my husband is seeking a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal-Medicine. In the meantime, I would love to have the opportunity to show you all what I have learned of the family-friendliness of Cleveland and Rainbow.
