Following completion of medical school, he completed orthopedic surgery residency training at Summa Health in Akron, OH.

He has advanced training in arthroscopic shoulder, knee and ankle procedures as well as robotic joint replacements. He is an active team physician for the USA Ski and Snowboard teams. He travels internationally as the team physician for these Olympic athletes. He has presented nationally at a multitude of conferences and is well published in orthopedic surgery.
His surgical practice includes fracture care, arthroscopic procedures of shoulder, knee and ankle joints as well as joint replacements of the shoulder, hip and knee. Acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries ranging from those sustained while playing sports to chronic conditions such as arthritis are his expertise.
His father James E Ohliger Jr has been practicing family medicine in northeast Ohio for over 30 years. He decided to follow his footsteps in the field of medicine. “Growing up and watching my father practice I have learned to always put the patient first. This exposure has provided me with upmost appreciation for my patients. My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to educate patients about treatment options whether it be surgical and nonsurgical modalities. Together we will come to a treatment plan that will be individualized based on patient activities, goals of return and many other factors.”
Patient Experience Reviews
Good professional care. Friendly
Love this provider very professional. Love Dawn H. Who scheduled our appointment she took time to understand the complexity of this appointment scheduled it in a timely manner was extremely helpful to my father.
Very caring Doctor and staff
Very good provider
Easy to talk to and answered all my questions
Always a good experience, however the wait time was extremely longer then usually to see the dr this time . Nobody kept us informed
The physician was excellent. I was, however, concerned about the lag time between when I had my MRI and the wait to hear from the doctor's office to schedule an appointment to review the MRI with me. After 4 weeks, I called the office to inquire about scheduling an appointment with the physician which was done immediately. I never was told why I was not contacted by the office to schedule an appointment?
Excellent care with Dr Ohliger and staff.
He is very good ***
Feel so confident in my care and with Dr. Oliver. He is excellent.
Everything was very good
It was my first visit with Dr. Ohliger. He came in, introduced himself, called me by name. I told him I had one question to ask him. He took the time to answer the question. That put me at ease immediately,
My regular provider is with ***.Some of the questions here are not relevant to my general/regular health care. Due to injury I was referred to Dr. Ohliger. I could not have had better care for my *** and ***. Surgery went excellent, based on how I feel now, and I am glad I was referred to Dr. Ohliger. I am eager to continue my care for this specific condition with him, follow ups and therapy, rather than switch to my normal care provider.
Dr Ohliger has generally been fantastic! I feel he listens really well to my concerns and addresses them. *** He is really knowledgable and I feel his personal experiences with knee surgeries have helped him to be more empathetic.
Dr. Ohliger was extremely knowledgeable on new innovations for orthopedic care. He was so personable and left me feeling well cared for by someone who really knew his stuff. He was kind and respectful while explaining possible treatments. This physician is terrific.
I was very excited to have Dr. James Ohilger III as my orthopedic surgeon. He did amazing! He drew pictures of how my bone broke, and how he was going to fix it. He is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.
Dr Ohliger is superior. I have referred several family members to him.
The clinic had a power outage during my visit, but the provider did the best they could.
Professional and very caring. Did not down because I was standing when he entered the room and he and I spoke eye to eye. No need to sit down for this visit. I would choose this doctor again In the future.
Very good experience
This was an all around amazing experience from the workers at the front desk, to the nurse, the medical student learning, and Dr Ohliger were all so respectful, professional, kind and accommodating.
