University Hospitals Provides In-depth Clinical Training for Enriching Medical Careers

As one of the nation’s top health systems, University Hospitals is committed to teaching excellence, in a supportive and collegial atmosphere, as we train the next generation of healthcare leaders. We are an academic hub, with world-renowned faculty providing rigorous and in-depth training, including access to nationally acclaimed research programs. With strong leadership across all clinical specialties, we teach leading-edge techniques and innovative clinical practices to prepare our residents and fellows for board eligibility in their specialties and enriching medical careers.

All residents and fellows participate in experiential learning in leadership, in collaboration with the UH Leadership Institute, as well as improving the value of care for individuals and populations, in collaboration with our UH Quality Institute. Residents are peer-selected to represent programs at our GME Resident Forum, which fosters bidirectional communication with system leaders, including our Innovation and Clinical Transformation teams.

UH Programs Meet or Exceed ACGME Requirements

Graduate medical education (GME) leadership at University Hospitals ensures that all programs meet or exceed the institutional and program requirements declared by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our GME staff is critical to this comprehensive learning experience, as they assist our residents and fellows in identifying the wide range of services available to them.

We are committed to a positive learning experience, supporting the trainees, faculty and staff.

Health Systems Science Curriculum

Health Systems Science Curriculum

The UH Graduate Medical Education health systems science curriculum, the first of its kind in the nation, develops competencies that are needed for clinical transformation. The curriculum includes experiential learning to build faculty and trainee competencies in leadership, stewardship and population health. All Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accredited schools now provide foundational education in health systems science, and we build on that to continuously improve our clinical learning environment.
