Impact of Treatment with Taxane or Platinum-Containing Regimens on Peripheral Nerve Functioning in Older Cancer Patients with Diabetes: An Exploratory Study |

| Description: |
This study is being done to determine the change in peripheral nerve function of diabetics occurring during and after treatment with neurotoxic taxane or platinum-containing chemotherapy regimens. Data will be collected at baseline, and every 3 weeks of treatment for an average of 4 cycles of therapy, and two months after the completion of therapy providing 6 data points per subject over 6 months. |
| Criteria: |
- Patients diagnosed with solid tumor cancers
- Patients must be receiving neoadjuvant or adjuvant treatment for loco-regional definitive therapy or systemic therapy for metastatic (Stage IV) disease with taxane and/or platinum containing regimens
- Patients must have a history of diabetes mellitus (Types I or II)
- Patients must not have received previous treatment with chemotherapy
