Immune responses in pulmonary sarcoidosis

Intro: The purpose of this research study is to clarify the cause of the multi-organ inflammatory disease sarcoidosis.
Condition:
Description: The purpose of this research study is to clarify the cause of the multi-organ inflammatory disease sarcoidosis. Eligible volunteers are being recruited for research bronchoscopy procedures, which involve passing a flexible tube into the lungs and collecting cells by washing them out from a small portion of one lung. Blood cells will be obtained as well for comparison with studies of lung cells obtained by bronchoscopy.
Criteria: Participants must be 18-50 years old and have been confirmed to have sarcoidosis by a medical doctor. We cannot include volunteers who are current smokers.
