Rainbow neonatologists have played a lead role in designing, planning and implementing important, nationally based clinical trials in neonatology since the inception of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Neonatal Research Center.

Many of our studies focus on exploring respiratory (breathing) problems and neurological (brain and nervous system) difficulties in premature babies. All of our research goes directly into helping us give your baby the very best care.

The research activities of the Division are focused primarily in three areas:
[1] Developmental respiratory neurobiology
[2] Fetal/neonatal environmental exposures
[3] Neonatal epidemiology and neurodevelopmental outcome
